Happy 2020 and Fresh Quarterly Resolutions!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEARS from our family to you all!!
That's right, the countdown to 2020 has begun!

We want to wish everyone a blessed, and safe New Year.
But, are we all ready for it.
What are our new resolutions that we all will be making and strive to keep?
That's why I strive to focus on 3 resolutions, quarterly. This way, I'm not so distracted in keeping a full list for a whole year.

This new quarterly resolution for me:
1) Be more priority on me, on my health and well-being.
2) Be more organized (using folders, budget books and datebooks for records).
3) Improve myself (focus on my studies to be a nutrition coach and to learn Spanish more).

I hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful New Year and is ready for a fresh new start. 2020 will be our year!

Feel free to ask me questions or leave me any comments.
Also, check out my pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

Take care and Good Night!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!!!! December Recap

OMG!!!
It's here! It's Christmas!
Wow, where did the time go?
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas for my family to you all. I hope everyone is having a wonderful, safe, thoughtful, and responsible day.
This month just flew by so quickly.
With me, I was so busy with work, looking for a new car, dealing with my schooling and attending to home life, that I simply lost track of time.
Let us see about a quick month recap.
Our Anniversary Gifts
Well, close to the start of the month, I was finally able to find a car. Yup, I got me a 2012 Nissan Altima. I will be doing a blog about that alone once the weather is better.
The 21st was mine and my Beloved husband's 2nd Anniversary. OMG! Two years already.
From Work
Goody Tray, I put together
We spent a wonderful day together. He got a watch and me a miniature french press for my teas. Also, my mom had started a new tradition with us. She's been giving us ornaments since the day we got married so she sent us a new one this year. I think it's a wonderful tradition and I too would love to pass it along to my own children.
Last night, on the 24th, I went for my work Christmas Party. Granted it was brief but that's ok. We exchange gifts and had some treats.

Opening gifts was fun and we received some good stuff.
Several tee shirts for hubby.
PJs for me.
Blankets for both.
Lunchpail for him.
Our Christmas Gifts
An egg timer for him.
A loom for me.
Snow globes for me.
A hat for him.
A burger press for him (since he does a majority of the cooking when I'm not home).
A book for both (me mostly, LOL).
Only to name a few things we received for Christmas.

How are you all spending Christmas? Are you going to visit family or friends, or just stay home and spend time with your loved one?

Do you have any traditions in your family that you all do for Christmas?
I recall when I was a kid, the reading of T'was the Night Before Christmas at my grandparents. That be something to do every year or to sing carols.
Anyways, Merry Christmas and Yuletide Blessings to everyone.

Vacant? Not really!

Okay, the weirdest thing has happened.

We (hubby and I) just came back from the building zoning office. The man in charge was an old friend of my father's and he was asking my dad about the information on the building we are living in.

Apparently, the landlord had approached them letting them know that no one is living in the building and that a couple of months back, the gas and water were shut off due to leakage in the pipes, which none of us knew about. I ended up finding out about a gas leakage back in June when we were helping out with some demo work to the building while also learning that the building permit for such had already expired.

On top of it all, as we were talking to the officer, he made a suggestion that didn't really come to us after we have advised him that there were only us and a small family living on the third floor. By right, until the landlord returns all utilities, we don't have to pay rent. Once those utilities are turned back on then we can renegotiate about rent.

Let's cross fingers and hope that would waken him.

Tree is Up! Count down to Anniversary!

Evening my friends. How is everyone tonight on the last day of November? How was your Thanksgiving?
Mine was simple. Had cornish hens and veggies for dinner before having to go to work.
But today been very productive.
Since it was one of my rare Saturdays off, been cleaning all morning.
And as a bonus, we finally got our tree up.
Plus, we found our daily ornaments to hang up to mark down the days till our wedding anniversary on the 21st. So, starting tomorrow, across a small line that separates the apartment, we will be hanging up these tiny ornaments all the way till the 21st where we are going to hang up a special ornament marking our wedding day.
It will be our second year married as Mr. and Mrs. Vargas.
We've been through a lot so far but it only made us stronger I believe.
Anyways, going to finish up with dishes and putting laundry away before bed.
Have a good night everyone.

Daily Drawing: The Resting Tree (Challenger)

The Resting Tree

(Going to make a note here. Today has been stressful, so when I drew this card tonight, I had to laugh at how true and fitting it is.)

The Resting Tree appearing as a Challenger asks you to consider if you're so frenetic that all you can think about is how stressed you are. Running around and overdoing anything only makes you into a human "doing," not a human "being." This is a sign to be careful or you may become physically ill, or at the very least, unable to enjoy life.

Be still. It's time to meditate and take time out or you'll make some mistakes that you may regret later. Don't worry; all those things you're trying to manage will still be there when you're ready to move forward again. Only then will you have aq clearer head with which to think.

Daily Drawing: Altar Prietess (challenger)

The Alter Priestess

Are you degrading yourself in any way or lessening the importance of your impact in your world? Have you allowed someone to dishonor you? Have you failed to stand up for your beliefs in order to get something you want? The Altar Priestess warns that continuing on this path could bring you trouble, as you may be aligning yourself with lower ideas as your companions.

Another message she brings you is this: never sell yourself short when it comes to your intuition. You're always led to the highest ground when you follow your inner guidance.

An important responsibility is brought to you when the Altar Priestess comes as your Challenger. You're being required to be a spiritual warrior and to have courage. Be ready, respect yourself, and believe in your purpose, as you're being chosen to be the embodiment of the Sacred in the world. In essence, you're challenged to be the best you that you can be out there. You can do it, and Spirit is counting on it.

Daily Drawings: The Diamond Dreamer

Evening everyone!!
Well, I'm going to try something new. I have oracle cards that I haven't touched in a while, so I'm going to start doing or redoing the daily card drawings. This is where I draw a single card each day and see what the day brings.

Please enjoy and let me know your thoughts and opinions as to what I shall do next.

The Diamond Dreamer
When the Diamond Dreamer arrives, he represents the successful manifestation of the unseen into the material. Be sure you truly want what you think you desire, for this Ally will commit to getting it for you. All manner of conditions will flow around you; messages from Spirit will serve to guide you toward achieving your heart's desire. If you want a house, you'll be led to it. If your priority is a new job, with the right continual steps, you will achieve this. If you desire a more harmonious relationship, the measures needed to create this will be obvious.

A project finally pays off. Material gain and positive financial shifts may also be on the way. You will, indeed, see the tangible results of your ambition. The Diamond Dreamer also serves to guide you to the appropriate choices so that the unseen is awakened to move mountains on your behalf.

Positive communication is now possible in all your relationships.

Vacation.....or Not!

Well, just as the title states.
We, hubby and I were on vacation and was heading out to Rhode Island to visit family.
But, it got interrupted by a good size buck, who left the scene, hobbling into a cornfield somewhere in Bethany, New York.
Let me give out the whole story instead of a summary, in case no one knows whats all happening.

For months to close to a year, the hubby and I have been planning to see his mom, brother, and sister-in-law, who all live in Rhode Island. We were bringing to them, their Christmas gifts from last year and this year. Plus, we even had our little dog, Ginger with us.
My mom and my best friend were going to take care of our cats during the 3 days and 2 nights we were supposed to be gone. So, on Wednesday the 16th we left around 830 at night to head to Rhode Island. It's about a 10-hour drive with stops maybe more. I find driving at night good cause there are no distractions from the other vehicles, the roads are cooler for the tires and just the sense of peace.
Well, as we were traveling along Route 20, we were trying to find a place to stop to have a bite to eat and to look over the GPS to find the route to get to the thruway we wanted, when this good size buck, either a 4 point or 6, came from the right side of the road.
I hit it hard on the driverside, smashing out my headlight. Both airbags deployed, leaving us gagging in the gases. I could hear the buck moving and limping away in the cornfield close by as we open the windows to air out the car. Everything in the back went flying and landed upon poor Ginger. Hubby got face smacked by the airbag and sore ankles by embracing for impact. I got the full force of the crash, whiplash from the seatbelt, face smacked by the airbag, bruised thumb knuckles when the airbag deployed, sore knees and ankles from embracing for the impact.
Lucky for us, another care who was heading east stopped and called 911 for us as we pulled the car over off the road and to asses the damage and contacted the insurance company about what happened.
A Genessee County Deputy, assist us and contacted the emergency units for my anxiety was flaring and I started to hurt in many places. They showed up, checked on us even helped with Ginger, poor baby was very shaken.
They even helped us look for a hotel close by, which was 20 minutes back from the crash in Batavia, New York.
After a day there, we found out that the car was totaled and that we had to stay another day till we could finally get a ride from my mom, for we were lucky enough to only be 2 hours away from home.
Lots of lessons to be learned here. Better to travel during the day. Make better plans as to when to travel. Plus, make sure to have the extra booking/cancelation insurance on the reservations, for there is a likely chance of getting refunded on the hotel you're supposed to be staying when things like this happen and you have to cancel the trip.
I would love to thank the Gennessee County Deputies who helped us, even gave us a ride to the hotel we were staying at. The Bethany and Gennessee EMTs for coming out and assisting us. As well as the Red Roof Inn at Batavia for putting us up for the two nights that we got to stay there. Good clean place, pet-friendly and wonderful continental breakfasts.
We are home safely and resting. Healing from the injuries and planning on looking for a new vehicle once the insurance folks get back to us about what we can do.
Wish us luck and take care, my friends.

Mayville Remembers September 11th

Our town may be small and not as important as many of the bigger cities across the country. But, we do recall all the lives that were lost on that tragic day. This is how we remember that day many years ago.

The CANs and CANNOTs of Nutrition Coaching

Hey everyone, Jessy here to share some news if you haven't heard yet.
I am taking classes to become a Certified Nutrition Coach or a CNC.

That means that I will be able to help and advise those who are struggling with their weight or those who are just seeking a healthier lifestyle.

But, I came across some information that I would love to share. And That being the CAN and CANNOT of Nutrition Coaching. Here, you are able to tell where the Nutrition Coach is overstepping their boundaries into the realm of a Registered Dietician.

Start with what a Certified Nutrition Coach CAN do:

Evaluate current eating plans and provide general guidance.
Recommend the client discuss supplement use with their personal registered dietitian nutritionist, physician, or pharmacist.
Promote caloric guidelines outlined by the USDA's MyPlate, the United Kingdom’s Eatwell Guide, or other acceptable entities.
Recommend gradual dietary modifications and consistent dietary practices.
Discuss the importance of a balanced intake of macronutrients.
Refer back to the client's personal healthcare provider when necessary.
Offer nutritional guidelines for anyone wanting to participate in typical athletic pursuits (i.e., masters swimming or a 10K run).
Provide guidance for healthy populations.
Offer advice on eating behaviors and/or macronutrients that are known to reduce the risk of disease or slow disease progression.
Offer exercise and physical activity guidelines.

Here is the CANNOT:

Provide specific meal plans and daily menus.
Prescribe specific supplements or recommend vitamins and/or mineral dosages.
Suggest drastic caloric restriction.
Promote fasting, detoxification, or other extreme nutritional practices.
Prescribe diets that omit or severely restrict certain food groups.
In anyway, go against recommendations of licensed healthcare professionals.
Provide detailed nutritional plans for athletes who participate in extreme training programs (i.e., Ironman triathletes or ultra-marathoners).
Prescribe dietary plans for those with chronic health conditions (i.e., diabetes or heart disease).
Provide nutrition therapy to treat or prevent disease.
Provide exercise prescriptions or detailed programming (unless already certified as a personal trainer).

So, if you find out that your Nutrition Coach that your Physician or Personal Trainer or even your Dietitian referred has crossed the line, be sure to report them. For we all must follow the Scope of Practice guidelines for the well-being of our patients/clients.

Any questions or comments or for any additional information, feel free to contact me.
Have a good day, my Friends.

Back to School

Hey everyone, how's it going?

You've heard it here, I have returned to school. Or more likely online schooling.

I'm studying to be a Certified Nutritional Coach or a CNC.
It has been a passion of mine to help others whose on the same journey as I am and to share with them what I've learned. Plus, to also let them know that they are not alone and that they don't have to be alone on this path to a healthier self.

2019 Great Lakes Medieval Faire

Fair greetings to all the people of the realm.

Sorry, medieval humor there.

But, seriously, hello to all my friends. Hoping your summer is going well.
I'm here to share my experience at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire at Rock Creek, Ohio on Saturday the 10th.
Healthy Lunch
Vegan/Fruit bowl with Cider
Every year, we try to attend around the time of my birthday and this year it was great fun and the first time I used my action camera. But, sadly the sound is messed up and I am going to have to purchase a mic for it so you all would be able to hear me in the future vids.

My Beloved Husband
Still, we had fun. Met the royal court. Laugh at the washing wenches. Relaxed with various folk music. Enjoyable foods. Cheered knights at the joust. And spend a wonderful day with my beloved husband.

Lights, CAMERA, Action!!!!

Hey there everyone, How's your summer going so far?

Me? I've been very busy with work and my TOPS Chapter.

But, I'm here to share some excitement, at least for myself. Ever since I started doing my video blogs and watching other vloggers, I've noticed that I could do more if I have an actual recording camera. Not just any ordinary camera, but an action or sports camera.
Well, I was able to find one that was affordable and guess what. It just arrived and all looks good. I can't wait to start using it and adding more to my videos.

Here's what's coming up that I would be using the camera for.
Great Lakes Medieval Faire
Battle of the Clans; Celtic Festival
Rhode Island Travel
Village/Town Walks

If anyone has any more ideas, please share down below in the comments.

Wishes everyone a good day.
