TOPS SRD Lake Placid 2019

That's right everyone, this weekend, I'm not home but up in beautiful Lake Placid, NY, for State Recognition Days or SRD for New York State TOPS chapters.

Here we take into account of everyone's accomplishments for the since last SRD, which was in Albany NY, the state capital.
We also have several classes or conferences that we can attend to learn the latest updates on health matters and how we all can maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I'll be keeping everyone posted on this weekend. Share videos and pictures of our time here.

If anyone has any questions or wish to comment, please do. I be more then happy to respond.

Have a good day, my friends!

Renovation!

before
Happy Hump Day, Everyone!!

I've been meaning to post this as we've been working on it since around the start of the month.
picking color
we have been in a studio apartment for a couple of years and its really boring seeing the same thing over and over again.
So, the hubby and I took it upon ourselves to improve our home.
tile design
It's a start but its better then most and I will be posting updates as we go along.

First thing we tackled was the bathroom.
before paint
It's small but it could of been better with a bath and shower combo instead of a shower that you have to walk up steps into. The toilet, I don't know why they did this when they made the apartment, but its in the corner. The floors are cement with a sealant top but it doesn't last if exposed to too much wetness. Finally the walls were white top with like a pea soup color base. And you can tell that the previous owners were smokers for the white was dingy with smoke stains.

We went out and found new tiles for the floor. A lovely crisscross design in brown. Then, we decided on a blue shade for the walls besides redoing the white, and we went for a color called "hourglass" which is like a like sky blue color. The tiles once in had brought out that blue and I love it.

Next, we decided to get like frost window covering for our windows. They face the front of the building and has a lot of sun exposure, especially the afternoon sun. I have come across this nice window design from Wish and put in an order, just to see what its like. It, finally arrived and we took a whole morning installing before having to go to work and it looks wonderful.

Our next project will be the walls and then the kitchen area as well as seeing about a way to divide the room so it would look like they are separate spaces.

Memorial Day Weekend

Greetings everyone!
Hoping the week is well and you all are ready for this weekend.
And do you know what weekend it is?

Yup, Memorial Day Weekend!

On Monday, May 27 this year, is actual memorial day, we all do our celebratings, picnicings and yard sellings over the weekend.

I know that I would be holding a yard sale Friday-Sunday (plus, working around regular work schedule). There's a community yard sale happening Saturday in our area.
Plus, a family picnic on Monday, along with celebrating my father's 69th Birthday.

FUN!

But, here is a good question; Do we remember why we celebrate memorial day?

According to SoftSchool, "memorial day facts," Originally Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day, meant to honor the Union and the Confederate soldiers who died during the American Civil War. By the 1900s it had become a day to celebrate all American soldiers who died while serving in the military. It wasn't until 1967 that it was legally named Memorial Day.

So, remember the fallen, my friends.

Also, don't forget to be safe this weekend.

Have a good rest of the week and a good weekend.

Let me know how it all turned out. Or if you have any special ideas to share. Would love to hear them.

Craziness at the Homefront

The craziest thing just happened, and it's not only affecting us.

Was in the middle of cooking supper, talking to my Beloved when suddenly, the gas went out. Not soon after that, the neighbors came knocking asking if we had either gas or water cause theirs isn't working. Sure enough, the stove wasn't working and strangely we had water, but all cold.

I contacted the neighbors upstairs and they said the same thing. No gas and no water.

Left a message with the girl whom the landlord had appointed as the manager to the building and to find out what was going on.

Til, then guess I'll be finishing supper in the rice cooker. I don't want to think or know what would happen if the power goes off too. That would be insane!
