TOPS Christmas/Recognition 2024

Wow, Journeyers, it's the end-of-the-year Christmas-Recognition party for my chapter.

This year, we went out for brunch at the Cornerstone in Sherman. We first got together for the final weigh-in for the year, before meeting up over at the restaurant.

There, we enjoyed good company, of all 6 members, with family and our Area Advocate. It was a lot of fun with all of us there, exchanging gifts, giving recognition where it's due.

7 Years Strong

 7 years

84 months

365 weeks

2,556 days

61,360 hours

3,681,644 minutes

220,898,664 seconds

and still counting....

The copper anniversary, as they called it. We pray that our bond will grow just as strong as every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, and year that goes by.

Today was a peaceful day. We went out in the morning for breakfast together, since we both had work later in the evening. He received a beautiful knife from me. While I was gifted a beautiful rose music box globe. Then, as a couple, my mother gifted us a lovely baking dish with a pure silver base.

Halloween Party

Happy Early Halloween Journeyers!!

Well, tonight I had a blast with my besties at the Lakeview Halloween party.

We were three different witches for the night, it was funny but good.

Sadly, it's not like the past, where there was a live band or a DJ, and they would do the voting. But in the end, we had a blast, just hanging together.

Fall Rally Ohana

TOPS NY1337

Today was a fun day for our area TOPS groups, Journeyers.

Earlier today, chapters from around Chautauqua County met up in Sherman for our annual Fall Rally.

This year, the theme is Ohana, which is Hawaiian for family.
We spent a wonderful day, celebrating and recognizing all the chapters and individuals for their hard work and dedication in their journeys.

Our chapter alone received nine awards between individual and group efforts combined.

2024 July 4th

 Happy 4th Journeyers!!!

This year is the 2nd year that we (my TOPS chapter) will be participating in the annual Chautauqua County parade, in Mayville. This year, it was my mother, husband, and I who attended.

Later was at work and saw some fireworks, for the neighbors across the road were setting them off.

Oswego 2024 SRD

Here we are again, Journeyers, another SRD trip for TOPS.

You all know that I praise TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), and that I'm also a leader for our area chapter. TOPS, as I've explained in the past, is a weight loss and healthy living support group. Every year, the whole state gets together for an annual convention to award and recognize members for a job well done, along their journey of weight loss and healthy living.

This year, we're up in lovely Oswego, New York, near Fort Niagara.

This year is very special for all of us, for we have both State and International division winner, my teenage nephew, Aiden. We're so proud of him.

Unfortunately, there was an incident, which
my mother fell and hit her head on the cement entryway of the hotel. So, both she and I had missed a good amount of the event, since we were at the hospital.

Chautauqua Belle Launch

According to Wikipedia, the history of the Chautauqua Belle is as follows: "Originally financed and built by Captain James Webster, the vessel was constructed on site in Mayville, New York, between 1974 and 1976. The Chautauqua Belle was launched in 1976 as part of Chautauqua County's celebration of the United States Bicentennial.

The Chautauqua Belle is one of only five operating authentic passenger sternwheel steamboats left in all of North America. The other four vessels are the Virginia V, in Seattle, Washington; Minne-Ha-Ha at Lake George, New York, operating on Lake George; the Belle of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, operating on the Ohio River; and the Natchez in New Orleans, Louisiana, operating on the Mississippi River.

The Chautauqua Belle and the Natchez were designed by the naval architect Captain Alan Bates of Louisville, Kentucky."

She's been a beautiful feature here in Mayville. My beloved and I took the tour a few years back, unfortunately, the lake was choppy that day, and my motion sickness flared, so I couldn't enjoy the scenery tour as expected. The costs of the tours and funds to keep the Belle going each year. With launches happening around Memorial Day and the docking sometime in October.

Solar Eclipse

Yup, just as the title stated. Today, we had a solar eclipse.

This particular full eclipse is the first one to be seen in our area for many decades, with the following total eclipse predicted for the year 2033.

I was at work at the time as it passed through, such a sight, even with the overcast, which helped to watch it safely, without the glasses. Even though I was told later, the glasses made it hard to see the eclipse fully.

Nephew's 1st Easter

 Happy Easter, Journeyers!

Hopefully, everyone is having a good Sunday, and the final day of March.

Unfortunately, I had to work and miss out on a moment. Today would be my baby nephew's very first Easter. Got him a special easter basket, all plushy. Only a little over a month old, and he's all bright-eyed.

So adorable.

Priceless Moment! Letting Nephew Know About Award!

 Hey Journeyers, how's it going?

Well, earlier today was our weekly TOPS meeting. Now, you all know I've been speaking about TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, and it's a wonderful support for healthy living and weight loss.

Well, around August last year, we gained a special new member. My young nephew, Aiden. He wanted to improve himself, especially with all the school programs and sports, like most teens are active in. Anyways, earlier in the week, I was notified by our area coordinator about some exciting news for this year's SRD (State Recognition Days).

Aiden is the first teen in years to receive both State and International Division Winner!

And when we shared the news with him, after had him sit down. Oh God, it was priceless!

Two years prior, my beloved husband, Gerardo, was a state division winner, first place in our area, second place in the state.

This news is wonderful, and it is unforgettable.

Way to go, Aiden!!!

First Girls Night Out in Forever

 Wow, Journeyers, what a night!

After so much work and unorganized schedules, I finally had a chance to meet up with friends for what we call "Girls Night."

We met up at the local tavern, Lakeview, where, lucky for me, I live in one of the upper apartments. But, we all had a great time, thankfully, I had the following day off, the first Saturday in a long time.

Wishing all is well, sorry for not posting longer, it's late, and still enjoying the night of catching up, rocking to the music, and just being ourselves.

Sad Winter Fest

This year wasn't much for the annual winter festival here in Mayville.

But, due to a lack of snow and ice, our usual massive ice castle ended up as a joke as one of the locals brought out the improvised wooden castle they started using a couple of years back that they created for times like this.

It's adorable, don't get me wrong, but it's so mediocre in comparison to the real thing. Hopefully, next year would be better, even though these last few years, it's hard to say.

Valentine's-Baby

This day had been trying for my whole family.
By the way, Happy Valentine's Day, Journeyers. Well, the day after.
Anyways, yesterday was Valentine's Day, very nice to spend time with my husband throughout the morning before he had to go to work.
But then, we got word that my brother's girlfriend started going into labor around 3pm. Mom and I went up with the baby bag to see how she and my brother are doing. It would have been nice if the baby arrived on the 14th, for my family, it was symbolic, since it was my grandparents' anniversary. Sadly, by 10:30 that night, the doctors stated they wanted to wait til morning.
Well, around 4:45 in the morning, I get a text from mom going on about the baby was coming, and at 4:58, another message saying he's here.
So, I'm guessing between 4:45 and 4:55, little Matthew Scott Madison, made his presence
known.
Welcome to the world, Matthew!

Craziness at Work

Oh my God, journeyers. Tonight was crazy at work.

A customer came in earlier, acting not all there. He made a small purchase and left.

No soon after, another customer came in letting us know that someone drove over the bank and into the fence at the side of the property. Needless to say, the man from earlier was tripping so badly he didn't know where he was going.

Sadly, had to get the authorities involved and notify both the manager and the District Manager. What a way to end the night!
